Dr Daolun Chen,

Dr. Chen, BSc and MSc (Northeastern University), PhD (Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences), Dr.rer.nat. (University of Vienna), is currently Ryerson Research Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Ryerson University. He is a recipient of Premier’s Research Excellence Award, and Ryerson FEAS Research Excellence Award. His primary areas of expertise include mechanical properties and microstructural characterization of materials; areas in which he has co-authored over 130 refereed publications.

Dr Redhouane Henda,

Redhouane Henda has obtained M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in chemical engineering from Institut National Polytechnique (France). He is currently Associate Professor of chemical engineering in the School of Engineering at Laurentian University (Canada). His primary areas of research and expertise are chemical process engineering (complex homogenous and heterogeneous chemical systems) and advanced materials (thin solid films). He is a recipient of many awards including a fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt foundation, and is a licensed professional engineer in Ontario.

Dr Sadan Kelebek,

Sadan Kelebek undertook his doctoral studies at McGill University
where he studied selective flotation of hydrophobic minerals.
Thereafter, he progressed to become senior program metallurgist
at the Metallurgical Technology Centre of Falconbridge Ltd.
in Sudbury. In 1997 he joined the Department of Mining Engineering
at Queen's University. He is currently engaged in studying
flotation processes and other matters of interest in mineral
separation.

Dr Alex McLean

Following graduation with degrees in Applied Chemistry and Metallurgy from the Royal College of Science and Technology and the University of Glasgow, Dr. McLean spent five years at McMaster University before moving to Jones and Laughlin Steel Corporation in Pittsburgh. He joined the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Science at the University of Toronto in 1970 and in 1984 the Ferrous Metallurgy Research Group was formed with Professor McLean as Director. He served as Department Chair from 1992 through 1997 and was appointed Professor Emeritus in 2002. He is an Adjunct Professor at Chiba Institute of Technology in Japan and holds the position of Invited Professor at Kyoto University. He has served as a consultant to companies in North America and Europe and is a board member of several industrial organizations. He has over three hundred publications, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and has received Honorary Doctorates from the University of Miskolc and the University of Strathclyde as well as awards from professional societies for contributions to the science and technology of steel processing.

Dr Mahi Sahoo,

Mahi Sahoo received his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia in 1971 and was at Queen's University until 1977 as PDF, Research Associate and Special Lecturer. He has been at the CANMET Materials Technology Laboratory since then and is the current Program Manager for Casting Technology. His areas of expertise include casting and solidification, sand casting, permanent mould casting, lost foam casting, vacuum casting, directional solidification, alloy development etc.
